Elliot Page Says She Hasn’t Been Offered Any Film Roles Since ‘The Odyssey’: ‘A Little Tricky… for Obvious Reasons’

Listen to Article

Elliot Page told host Kevin McCarthy on the On Film podcast that studios have not approached him with new parts after his appearance in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Page, who identified as transgender in 2020, said obtaining roles has grown harder for reasons he called obvious, that he would welcome strong material if contacted, and that his earlier public image has changed so he may need to generate work himself.

The Odyssey earned 1.4 billion dollars worldwide, Nolan’s personal high, drew strong reviews, and is discussed as a possible Best Picture contender.

Samantha Morton, who played Circe and is a two-time Oscar nominee, said she has gone a year without jobs despite capable representation. At 49 she pointed to age bias and shifting industry politics, though Nolan’s casting had given her hope that solid performances still lead to further employment.
