Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed told a Saturday town hall in Midland, Michigan, that originalism reads the Constitution as written, so the promised right to arms covers muskets and equal access to them.
He asked whether weapons meant only for mass killing should stay on the open market. He also backed tighter red flag rules and keeping firearms out of schools.
He said protecting children should come before protecting guns.
