Amtrak Union Apparently Not a Fan of Right to Keep and Bear Arms

The Transport Workers Union, which represents 360 Amtrak onboard service workers, criticized a planned policy that would let passengers bring firearms onto U.S. intercity trains inside personal lock boxes. The union said the change is now set to start in January 2027, after Amtrak had considered easing weapon-transport limits under Trump administration pressure but had not given a date. John Feltz, International Rail Division director of the Transport Workers Union, said firearms should not be allowed in passenger cars because people share confined spaces, unlike checked luggage on aircraft. Station agents would attach an Amtrak combination lock to cases at departure and remove it at arrival. Feltz said a faulty lock or forced opening could put riders and crew at risk.
