Skyeler Bleau Jackson, 24, of San Antonio, Texas, became the first person charged under Florida statute 790.222 after selling forced reset triggers to undercover Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies at a West Palm Beach gun show. Arrested February 11, he spent nine days in county jail facing two counts that carry up to 10 years in prison and $10,000 in fines if convicted; a third charge of possessing a firearm during a felony was dropped.

The 2018 law, enacted in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act, bans bump-fire stocks and devices that increase a semiautomatic firearm’s rate of fire but does not name forced reset triggers. Jackson’s bond was negotiated down to $70,000. A bill to repeal the statute died in the House Criminal Justice Subcommittee.
