A 2A Lawyer Says the ATF’s Anti-Gun Wing Is Keeping a List

Listen to Article

A Second Amendment attorney said in a recent video that people with contacts at the ATF and Justice Department have told him an anti-gun faction inside those agencies plans later enforcement against current suppressor purchases. He described the information as unconfirmed and possibly empty, while noting the agencies also include staff who support gun rights.

The lawyer said that faction objects to recent policy and would pursue cases even if courts later reject them, leaving defendants with years of litigation and high costs. A July 4, 2025 statute set the National Firearms Act tax on suppressors and related items to zero starting January 1, 2026 without taking those items off the statute. A Northern District of Texas judge then held that the registration system lost its legal basis once the tax ended, and an injunction took effect on August 13, 2026 after the department chose not to appeal, so transfers now require only a Form 4473 and a background check.
