Late last month, in July 2026, the State Department and the Commerce Department published a pair of coordinated interim final rules that rewrite how most American-made suppressors get exported. Starting November 20th of this year, most suppressors built for non-automatic and semi-automatic firearms will be removed from the State Department’s U.S. Munitions List and the Commerce Department’s Commerce Control List instead.
