Tisas now offers the 1911A1 US Army Armed Services Family pistol, built in Turkey as a close copy of a 1943 Remington-Rand 1911. Period-style checkering, phosphate finish and markings produce a vintage look, while tight tolerances, absence of tool marks and firm lockup indicate solid construction.

A tester ran 500 rounds of remanufactured 230-grain plated ammunition with no stoppages and intends to try hollow-point loads later. The roughly 4.5-pound trigger and simple iron sights work for practical fire from 0 to 25 yards on torso silhouettes, with results limited mainly by the shooter. The grip fits both large and shorter, broader hands, and the factory kept its own marking small to retain a plain, workmanlike appearance.
