The half minute commercial focuses on his desire to outlaw common semi automatic rifles and belongs to a multimillion dollar drive to preserve congressional majorities that protect firearm ownership before voters go to the polls in November.

Talarico backed bans on assault weapons plus frequently owned magazines in a 2020 clip and later said such a prohibition remains possible. Rival Ken Paxton, the state attorney general, has always supported the right to keep and bear arms. The group treats stopping Talarico as a leading Texas objective because he voted against permitless carry and for tighter firearm rules, and it is touring with a vehicle plus traditional turnout work among gun owners.
