Montana’s general big game hunting season opens October 24, following an early youth deer hunt on October 15 and 16. State wildlife officials urge hunters to obtain licenses before then through several available channels.
Buyers may print a license, receive one by email for home printing within five days, or load an electronic tag through the agency mobile application.
A new program this year lets participating local businesses and some city and county libraries set up computers or tablets so customers can buy licenses and apply for permits on the state’s online system. Some former vendors no longer sell licenses, while new sites have joined; participating locations are listed on the agency website.
