Hunters in Wyoming are asked to respect public and private property and the wildlife habitat it supplies as the season continues. Prolonged dry weather has left range plants short, dry and easily broken, and vehicles leaving marked roads press those plants into the soil so mule deer cannot use them as winter food.
The Access Yes effort partners with roughly 450 landowners to open more than 700,000 private acres for hunting and fishing. Walk-in parcels require only a valid license for allowed species, while hunter management areas require a permission slip.
Lander Region Access Yes coordinator Jon Desonier said following land rules, remaining on roads and protecting habitat keeps areas available and safeguards wildlife for the future.
