The FWP station in Havre for Region 6 counted 755 hunters across the opening three weekends, higher than last year and typical despite cooler rain and muddy roads. Checks included 229 antelope 10 percent above average, 39 mule deer, five white-tailed deer and three elk.

Birds numbered 408 pheasants, 48 sharp-tailed grouse, 53 gray partridge and 44 ducks. The post stays open weekends until November 29 and every hunter must stop even without game.
