NEXUS Outdoors in Muskegon, Michigan, sells Blocker Outdoors Scent Shield X-Factor products as a coordinated scent-control system for hunters. A Minnesota company launched the original Scent Shield spray in 1985 using a formula first developed by a French cosmetics chemist. The brand later added ScentBlocker clothing in 1997.
The current X-Factor items include 4X laundry detergent, 4X body soap, 3X shampoo and conditioner, and 5X Fall Blend clothes and boot spray, plus bar soap, deodorant, wipes and dryer sheets. NEXUS marketing director Steve Allie noted that hunters frequently address scent in separate pieces instead of a complete routine.
