The Rimfire Report: Armscor Still Makes 22 Short. Is It Worth It?

▶
Listen to Article

Armscor still loads 22 Short ammunition in the Philippines and sells it in the United States as a 29-grain copper-plated solid-point round. Advanced Tactical lists a 50-round box at 5.18 dollars, more than the 3.42 dollars asked for the company’s own 36-grain high-velocity 22 Long Rifle. The brass cases bear the Tuason T headstamp and arrive in an orange-and-white sleeve holding 50 cartridges.

Fired from a suppressed Ruger Precision Rimfire, the load averaged 974.9 feet per second with an 89-foot-per-second extreme spread. Groups ran 1 to 1.5 inches at 25 yards, yet the short cases leave a fouling ring in Long Rifle chambers that can hinder later use of standard ammunition.
