Critics from gun-control and anti-hunting circles object that suppressors aid criminals or tilt the hunt, yet extra barrel length, higher cost (especially if a rifle needs threading), slower ammunition for maximum quiet, and a departure from traditional looks remain practical limits. Hunters must still confirm that local game laws permit suppressors.
