Haymarket Customs published a 2026 Creative Commons noncommercial design for a slim modular M-LOK handguard meant for AK rifles. The part combines a printed polymer body with machined aluminum mounts and reinforcement plates.
The body is printed on end from high-strength, heat-resistant filament such as glass-filled PET or nylon. Front and rear mounts plus M-LOK plates are cut from 6061-T aluminum stock and secured with metric screws. An optional thin aluminum heat shield can be snipped and bent by hand, printed as a finished shape, or replaced with a flattened soda can, and it is described as greatly extending the printed core’s service life.
