Krista Perez, a Democrat who won her party primary for Washingtons 29th Legislative District Position 1, was arrested for driving under the influence after a crash. Body camera video shows her outside a car with a deployed front airbag, saying she had not crashed before and did not know how it happened.

She told an officer she had driven from a friends business on Tacoma Avenue South after one glass of wine, could not name her insurer after a recent policy change, and rated her sobriety a four on a zero to ten scale. She declined voluntary field sobriety tests, said she was confused, and asked to leave.

Officers handcuffed her, explained the DUI charge, and placed her in a patrol car, where she prayed in Spanish and cried while repeating that she did not understand.
