The 2A community has already seen early versions of this play in states that feed concealed-carry data into mental-health databases; AI simply supercharges the process, replacing human review with opaque scoring systems that no citizen can audit or appeal.

Yet the same tools that threaten can also defend. Real-time computer vision can verify that a defensive shooter acted within the law by cross-referencing body-cam, doorbell, and vehicle footage, while blockchain-anchored digital receipts could prove lawful purchase and ownership without creating a de-facto registry. The policy challenge is to hard-wire those privacy-preserving architectures into the next generation of AI regulation before default settings favor surveillance over liberty.
