Democratic Socialists of America member Angie Nixon, seeking a Florida U.S. Senate seat, spoke at a Miami church and used language she had earlier credited to Assata Shakur without naming that source this time.

Nixon previously introduced the same language as coming from Shakur, whom she called a famous freedom fighter and who had appeared on the FBI most wanted terrorists list. She has lately tried to separate herself from the DSA while remaining a member and accused Republican incumbent Ashley Moody of lying by citing that affiliation.

In both appearances she tied the remarks to federal spending on a White House ballroom, efforts against ballot measures she said should fund health care for low-income children, and neighborhood public school closures alongside subsidies for private education.
