Utah Republican Governor Spencer Cox said in a PBS interview released Friday that the Chinese Communist Party probably still directs TikTok’s ranking software even after an American firm took ownership. He agreed with host Margaret Hoover that officials still lack a clear picture of how that software operates.

Cox said China limits similar apps for its own children because it regards them as harmful, while the same product is pushed toward young people and adults in the United States. The comments aired on Firing Line.
