Former White House counsel Ty Cobb told CNN OutFront on Monday that President Donald Trump is recasting the executive mansion as a mix of a brothel and a Nevada casino city.

The remarks came during talk of a 5-4 Supreme Court ruling that lets work on Trump’s ballroom proceed. Host Erin Burnett noted the chief justice’s dissent, which treated the building’s architecture as bound up with national symbolism and history rather than a purely legal point. Cobb said that view affected him because of his long time on the grounds, which he recalled as handsome and historic.

He blamed extensive gilding for the change in character, called the result a loss, and said the work would keep going for now.
