Former White House lawyer Ty Cobb told CNN OutFront on Monday that the Supreme Court blocking administration limits on mail ballots before the November 3 election shows justices now see the president as a severe danger to democratic government.

Cobb said the Constitution assigns the president no function in conducting elections, so the court properly refused his bid to take charge of balloting, and the legal issue was never in doubt.

After Erin Burnett asked whether the public should welcome a more united court, Cobb cited recent rulings on tariffs, birthright citizenship, the Federal Reserve dismissal of Lisa Cook, and a jurisdictional dissent by Chief Justice Roberts as proof that both most Americans and the justices increasingly recognize that danger, adding that the latest decision helps the country avoid harms the president wants to force.
