Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller told NewsNation Now on Friday that residents with lawful status still avoid public places because they worry about being taken into custody.

He said ICE actions at Kansas packing plants will raise beef prices and that the same climate has kept children from school.

Early in the administration, agents detained dairy workers and left cows unmilked until Miller and other state agriculture commissioners objected; officials then said they would target criminals rather than those laborers.
