Trump Threatens Iran Strike — ‘We May Do Another Little Epic Fury’

▶
Listen to Article

President Donald Trump said Friday at a Fort Myers, Florida, campaign event that Washington might again hit Iran militarily unless Tehran accepts a deal, after stating a day earlier that U.S. forces had already inflicted heavy damage and could press on. He claimed American control of the Strait of Hormuz lets other nations move oil while blocking Iranian shipments and asserted the United States could seize Iran or its petroleum. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said isolation efforts had wrecked Iran’s export system even as Persian Gulf oil volumes exceeded pre-conflict levels, and he credited Operation Economic Outcast with draining shadow tankers, the main terminal, and offshore stocks. An Atlantic account described possible post-midterm strikes on missiles, drones, energy sites, and nuclear sites, while Ambassador Tom Barrack floated a weekend attack that Trump said he knew nothing about. Iran threatened cable sabotage and other reprisals, and the State Department reduced embassy staffing across several Gulf states plus Lebanon and ordered nonessential people out of Saudi Arabia.
