Texas Democratic Senate candidate and state representative James Talarico reversed a 2021 comment delivered in a House public education committee hearing. Fox News reporter Brooke Taylor asked him in an interview whether he continued to think humans come in six sexes. He said he had gotten some earlier comments wrong and now holds that two sexes exist, with a small fraction of people showing genetic irregularities.

He said politicians nearby prefer discussing sexes to avoid high diesel prices. People throughout Texas struggle to afford groceries, gasoline, utilities and health care, and he will concentrate on those costs until the election.
