Stephen Moore, a former economic adviser to President Trump, told Fox Business on Monday that a ban on diesel exports would not help. He pointed to a Biden administration review that concluded such a ban would not reduce fuel costs and would harm the oil and gas sector.

Moore said a temporary halt to ethanol blending rules would cut refining costs enough to lower gasoline prices by about 30 to 35 cents a gallon, with the savings reaching drivers. He also urged states to cut their gasoline taxes and said the blending rules could return after prices decline.
