Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan told MSNBC on Wednesday that President Trump and congressional Republicans have wrongly read the meaning of their election win. She noted that the party currently controls the House, Senate and White House and that some members expect that control to last indefinitely even though signs suggest otherwise.
Slotkin argued they believe voters support every item on their agenda and warned that creating such examples now invites later leaders with opposing views to follow the same path. She said a decisive defeat this November would help restore ordinary limits, including a ban on spending public money on campaign commercials.
