Senator Ruben Gallego of Arizona said on CNN Sunday that if he became president he would reverse President Donald Trump’s alterations to Washington. He has not decided whether to run in 2028. Asked about a White House ballroom and a planned arch, he said he would support removing nearly all such projects.

Gallego pointed to January 6 and what he called an attempted coup, plus harm to institutions including the Justice Department, as grounds to reject honors in Trump’s name. He objected to replacing the Kennedy Center’s name and to an arch that would sit in view of Arlington National Cemetery’s Section 60, where he visits friends, saying Trump had undermined the democracy those buried there defended.
