Representative Maria Elvira Salazar of Florida appeared Sunday on CBS Face the Nation and said certain aides to President Donald Trump are damaging the historical record he will leave.

She has raised immigration concerns for months and recently issued an advertisement arguing that Hispanic voters who supported him in 2024 now feel let down, that enforcement has exceeded proper bounds, and that half of the 50,000 people held in July had no criminal records. She later spoke with Trump in a courteous, receptive conversation and urged him to protect the unusually strong Hispanic backing no earlier Republican president had won, so the party can keep prevailing against Democrats she called socialists.

Asked to identify the aides giving poor counsel, she said some of them are harming that record.
