Representative Jamie Raskin of Maryland said on CNN Monday that Democrats would subpoena the Trump family if they win majorities in the midterm elections.
Host Kasie Hunt asked what his first subpoena would be should Democrats recapture the House and he become Judiciary Committee chair. Raskin declined to rank targets, saying more corruption cases would surface in the 30 days left before the vote.
He described work on pardons that canceled $1.7 billion in payments owed by released convicts, fraud in government contracts, and hundreds of millions to billions the Trump family received from contractors plus deals with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, including a $400 million jet. He said subpoena power would let Democrats document and halt the conversion of the executive branch into a profit vehicle.
