On Wednesday, Maryland Democrat Jamie Raskin appeared on MS NOW program The Briefing with host Jen Psaki and criticized President Donald Trump for citing national security to legally defend a White House ballroom, an arch, and a press restriction.

Neighborhood and beautification groups reject the project’s appearance, aviation safety officials have called it a danger to flights, and veterans groups plus military figures say it dishonors Arlington National Cemetery. Raskin likened those arguments to the same rationale used for the ballroom and for removing the East Wing.

He said the Constitution gives Congress control over such matters and does not let a president take that power by invoking national security.
