President Donald Trump spoke during a weekend appearance in Perry, Georgia, and said Senator Jon Ossoff backs firearm restrictions meant to leave people without guns. He cited Ossoff support for an AR-15 ban plus NRA grades of A+ versus F.

In 2025 Ossoff joined Chris Murphy, Cory Booker and Tammy Duckworth in co-sponsoring SB 1531. The bill would outlaw import, sale, manufacture, transfer or possession of a semiautomatic assault weapon covering AR and AK platform types and frames the keep and bear arms right as limited.
