During a PBS NewsHour interview segment that aired Monday, California Governor Gavin Newsom addressed Democratic plans to impeach President Donald Trump after a possible House majority. He said he would back following the evidence yet cautioned that the effort could pull focus from governing and produce little besides political messaging.

Newsom instead highlighted California work on insulin priced at eleven dollars as the only such state program, diapers for newborns, paid sick and family leave, healthcare coverage exceeding other states, and childcare. He also said everyone involved in administration misconduct, not only Trump, plus anyone who broke the law or illegally exploited the public, should face consequences.
