The company was answering questions about a Thursday post that showed a male character stretching to look at a woman and joked that he almost hurt his neck.

That post went up on September 10, one year after Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was killed by a shot to the neck at Utah Valley University while trying to speak with a student. Many people on X said the date was not accidental, and commentator Jon Root said Netflix should still apologize to Kirk’s family even if the overlap was unintended. Others noted the post stayed online for hours and argued the company meant the reference.
