Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut told MS NOW Deadline viewers on Tuesday that Donald Trump’s core supporters appear highly uncertain and will probably skip the midterm elections. Those voters expected him to halt overseas fighting and cut living costs, yet Murphy said the president is instead increasing costs and drawing the country into additional conflicts.

Murphy reported that many Republicans will not back Democrats but may simply stay home, a pattern that could decide contests in Alaska, Texas and Iowa. He also described first-time and returning voters who sat out after the Biden years now treating the race as a struggle over democratic institutions, including younger Americans and first- and second-generation immigrants who object to Trump’s portrayal of people not born in the United States.

Those new participants plus 2024 Trump voters remaining inactive could, Murphy said, produce a large Democratic House majority and Democratic control of the Senate, as occurred in the previous Trump midterm.
