Democrats are four or five, six years ahead of where Republicans are at. And I think Republicans have hindsight of what happened to Democrats,” Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) told Fox & Friends, explaining why he believes conservatives have suddenly become vocal defenders of Jewish Americans. The Florida Democrat’s blunt admission is more revealing than he probably intended. What he’s really saying is that the left’s institutional capture by radical identity politics, intersectional grievance hierarchies, and open tolerance for antisemitic rhetoric has created a cautionary tale so grotesque that even the right, often slower to react on cultural issues, has taken notice and decided not to repeat the same suicidal mistakes.
For the 2A community this moment carries special weight. The same ideological machinery that spent years mainstreaming “punch a Nazi,” glorifying Palestinian terrorism, and platforming Squad members who traffic in blood libels is the exact machinery that has long sought to disarm law-abiding citizens. When progressive institutions normalize antisemitic violence on college campuses and in major cities while simultaneously pushing “assault weapon” bans and red-flag laws, the pattern becomes impossible to ignore. Jews in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami who once trusted Democrat leadership to protect them are now buying firearms in record numbers and discovering, often for the first time, why the Second Amendment exists as the ultimate backstop against tyranny and mob violence. Self-defense is not a partisan issue until one party decides certain victims are acceptable collateral damage in the march toward “equity.”
Moskowitz’s hindsight comment should serve as both warning and opportunity. The right doesn’t have the luxury of being “four or five, six years” behind on this fight. The forces that turned elite universities into no-go zones for Jewish students and turned Democrat-led cities into open-air festivals of antisemitic intimidation are the same ones coming after your rifles, your magazines, and your ability to protect your family. The 2A community has been ahead of this curve for decades, understanding that an unarmed populace is always one election, one riot, or one government failure away from catastrophe. If even a Democrat congressman can see the disaster his own party created, it’s long past time for every gun owner, every Jewish American, and every freedom-loving citizen to recognize that the surest defense against the next wave of hatred is not hoping politicians will protect you; it’s exercising the constitutional right that guarantees you can protect yourself.
