Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Democratic nominee for governor, said on CBS Face the Nation Sunday that President Trump is attempting to sow uncertainty around the electoral system. She spoke after a federal judge on Friday barred the postal service from enforcing new mail-ballot rules Trump issued by executive order; two million Michigan residents vote by mail and ballots go out on the 19th.

Benson said the state will continue administering elections itself, inform residents accurately, obey the law, and protect mail voting. She called such resistance important for 2026 and 2028 and noted that her opponent, after losing a 2020 statewide race, refused to honor the result and sided with Trump to undo it, which she said makes him unfit.
