Lena Dunham and Luis Felber, married since 2021, announced this week in a Vogue piece that they have welcomed their first child. A surrogate carried the pregnancy after Dunham had a hysterectomy in 2018 for endometriosis.

Dunham has said she long wanted to become a mother. On a 2016 podcast she identified as an abortion rights activist, told a young woman at a Texas Planned Parenthood clinic that she had never had an abortion, and later described that reaction as internalized stigma.
