House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York said Saturday on MS NOW’s Politics Nation that the GOP now treats limiting who can vote as its route to winning.

He said Democrats would build the biggest ballot-protection campaign the nation has ever mounted, with House and Senate members joining Democratic governors, secretaries of state, and attorneys general, including New York’s Tish James, and working with civic and civil-rights groups. The aim, he said, is that the public, not others, decide who holds Congress and who wins the contests.

Jeffries also said Democrats would keep fighting what he called extreme measures, including a historic strike at Black political power and at African American communities’ chance, in the South and across the country, to pick the candidates they want.
