Border Czar Tom Homan told viewers of Newsmax TV program Rob Schmitt Tonight on Tuesday that roughly two fifths of immigration arrests involve people who pose neither a danger to the public nor to national security.
He said current figures show about 60 percent of those taken into custody have criminal records while the rest do not. President Trump has directed a focus on individuals who threaten public safety or national security, yet Homan noted that remaining cases stay eligible for enforcement.
Anyone present in the United States without legal permission remains a target of these operations.
