Governor Abbott’s blunt assessment that AI data centers have “dug their own grave” by ignoring local governments is more than a warning shot at Big Tech—it’s a reminder that the same regulatory muscle can be flexed against any industry that forgets who ultimately holds the power. Texas has long been a magnet for both data-center construction and firearms-friendly policy, but the governor’s message is clear: if companies refuse to play ball on power grids, water rights, or tax incentives, the state can—and will—reclaim the leverage it once handed out. For Second Amendment advocates, the lesson is obvious: the same political environment that protects the right to keep and bear arms can also be used to defend the infrastructure that supports training ranges, ammunition plants, and the small manufacturers that keep the ecosystem alive.
The deeper implication is that the battle over energy and land use is rapidly becoming a proxy fight for every other freedom-minded industry.
