New Jersey Democratic Representative Josh Gottheimer spoke Thursday on CNN News Central and dismissed Republican plans to spotlight far-left primary winners as a tactic that will fail with battleground voters. He said members of the Democratic Socialists of America are socialists, not Democrats, hold views at odds with the party, refuse to back House Democratic leaders, and should form their own organization.

Gottheimer listed positions such as ending police departments, closing prisons, and rejecting borders as incompatible with Democratic priorities. He said Democrats instead press daily on household costs and alleged White House corruption, a theme he repeats in New Jersey where residents face rising prices after campaign promises of relief.

He argued that cost-of-living concerns will decide the election while Republican diversion attempts collapse, and that numerous Democrats already reject the same far-left stances.
