On Wednesday Louisiana Republican Senator John Kennedy told Fox News China could open the Strait of Hormuz at once if it directed Iran but has not. He said America has achieved every goal, destroyed Iranian air defenses, and would learn of any nuclear restart in minutes then bomb it again, adding Iran currently lacks a nuclear weapons program.

Kennedy called the strait the sole leftover issue and said the president must decide after those successes whether to withdraw so China, Russia, North Korea, Europe and other countries that would not help can try, since a closed strait would cost them more than America. He said Iran’s rulers belong with China, North Korea and Russia led by President Xi and none of the four can be trusted.
