Louisiana Republican Senator Bill Cassidy told NewsNation Live on Thursday that Congress should examine Pete Hegseths leadership as secretary of war. He highlighted unexplained dismissals of generals and assistant secretaries during a conflict that has lasted six or seven months rather than the expected six weeks.
Cassidy indicated those officials may have been removed after disagreeing with Hegseth and called for intensive congressional scrutiny. He also remarked that the war itself appears to have been a mistake. Asked whether Hegseth should stay in charge, Cassidy focused on the need for that examination.
