On Wednesday, Iowa Republican Zach Nunn appeared on Fox News Channel program Fox and Friends First and explained his vote for a war powers resolution. He stated Congress must participate and daily honor troops while supplying them a continuing operational strategy.

Nunn supported the president regarding responses to immediate Iranian dangers and return fire after attacks on a carrier strike group or American personnel. Congress, he said, must verify that deployed forces understand their instructions, have enough weapons for self-defense, and that plans stop Iran from acquiring nuclear arms, acting as the leading terrorism backer, or restricting the Strait of Hormuz.

Conditions have shifted substantially since the fighting began, and lawmakers now need to hold Iran responsible while putting service members first.
