On Tuesday, Virginia Republican Representative Ben Cline appeared on Fox Business Network Mornings and assessed the prospects of New York Democrat Hakeem Jeffries remaining at the head of House Democrats.

Cline indicated Jeffries could draw opposition as minority caucus leader or as speaker should Democrats capture the House in November. Host Cheryl Casone noted a CNN report of progressive House members and candidates privately urging leaders to adopt more liberal positions, with Jeffries seeming reluctant.

Cline contended that Democrats arriving from New York plus socialist Democrats from other seats would seek more extreme party leadership. He maintained Republicans would retain the House majority, leaving Democrats without direction as they have been for several months.
