Georgia Republican Representative Buddy Carter told CNN News Central on Friday that tariffs contribute to higher prices alongside petroleum and gasoline costs.

Co-host Boris Sanchez asked whether constituents find goods more affordable because of President Trump’s tariffs after a debate in which fellow Georgia Republican Representative Mike Collins argued the tariffs make markets fairer and Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff pointed to grocery prices as the test.

Carter said the Iran conflict the president is working to end soon has raised fuel and grocery costs through transport, fertilizer, and other petroleum uses. He said prices will fall once that conflict is resolved and praised the president’s handling of it.
