Louisiana Republican Governor Jeff Landry told Fox and Friends on Wednesday that the United States power system has stayed fragile since he joined Congress in 2011. He said a Louisiana arrangement with data centers can fortify that system without extra charges for electricity customers.

Lawrence Jones cited opposition to such projects in several states, including Texas, and asked why Landry still backs them. Landry said talks with Meta started two years ago and required the firm to add generation, support network upgrades, and cover those costs over time, terms Meta accepted.

He also said the sites enable streaming, cloud photo storage, email, texts, and daily apps and serve as core economic infrastructure.
