Sir Keir Starmer said he will leave the House of Commons as the member for Holborn and St Pancras more than a month after Andy Burnham replaced him as prime minister. He told the Camden New Journal on Tuesday after holding the London seat for over eleven years.

He intends to concentrate on international matters such as defence, security, trade and technology. He also plans to keep addressing violence against women and girls, an effort he began before entering Parliament.

Starmer led the Crown Prosecution Service from 2008 to 2013 and first won election in 2015.
