Florida’s DSA Senate candidate Angie Nixon is the latest reminder that the modern left’s cultural agenda and its hostility to law enforcement travel together. While stumping inside a church, Nixon openly praised a Marxist cop-killer—an act that would have ended most political careers a generation ago. At the same time, she boasted about taking her own children to drag shows and labeled the performances “wholesome entertainment,” a phrase that collapses any pretense of protecting childhood innocence. These are not gaffes; they are deliberate signals to a base that now treats the police as the problem and sexualized performances as family fare.
For the 2A community the message is unmistakable: the same worldview that cheers the elimination of armed protectors also seeks to normalize the erosion of parental authority and traditional values. When a candidate can lionize a cop-killer without consequence, the underlying assumption is that law-abiding citizens should surrender their own means of self-defense. Nixon’s comfort with exposing minors to adult sexual expression further illustrates the cultural disarmament underway—convince parents they are bigots for shielding their kids, and the next step is convincing them they are bigots for wanting to keep a firearm in the home. Florida voters still have time to decide whether that package deserves a Senate seat; the rest of the country should treat it as a warning label.
