Documents released Monday by the White House Government Transparency Task Force showed FBI notes from a 2023 meeting of Jack Smiths team and former CIA director John Brennan contained only the date, place, Brennans name, and which officials attended.
The autumn session concerned expert testimony in Smiths classified-documents case against Donald Trump. Agents on hand wrote nothing, though they ordinarily must. The encounter formed part of an FBI inquiry called Plasmic Echo that produced later-dismissed charges that Trump mishandled classified material taken to Mar-a-Lago after his first term.
Smith testified Tuesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
